Abstract

Current open source mapping APIs already include comprehensive global municipal lines/polygons. A user generated layer for pairing a municipal jurisdiction with a responsible litter abatement agency within that jurisdiction is an extremely easy wiki project. Furthermore, volunteer groups can 'adopt' virtual polygons for tracking trash reporting within those polygons (http://activities.cleanuptheworld.org/). From this point, CleanApp users report items of trash that are geo-tagged and sent to the responsible international (Antarctic/Arctic/ocean-borne), federal, state, local, corporate, or volunteer groups responsible for litter abatement within the polygon. Wiki robustness is assured by litter reporting/abatement incentives for respective stakeholders.
