Abstract

The Chapters and Thematic organisations active in the Wikimedia world are quite often facing similar challenges and problems. Here is where they can benefit from each other: by exchanging ideas, experiences and problem solving strategies. The WCA Chapters Exchange is a place on meta to facilitate this exchange. You can find peer reviewers, offer your unique services and look for project partners. In my presentation, I will show you what these organisations have to offer and how they found help.

The Chapters and Thematic organisations active in the Wikimedia world are quite often facing similar challenges and problems. Efforts to work on these are often duplicated, and the wheel is reinvented. Take for example the FDC applications, where a lot of Chapters tried to submit a proposal without external help. Here is where they can benefit from each other: by exchanging ideas, experiences and problem solving strategies. The idea of peer review and peer help is central to the WCA Chapters Exchange. It is a place on meta to facilitate this exchange. You can find peer chapters and organisations, offer your unique services to the wikimedia world and look for project partners in your region. In my presentation, I will show you what these organisations have to offer and how they found help. There will be examples of how peer review helped to professionalize organisations without pressure or hazzle. Also, there are already some cool projects in the list that benefit everyone who wants to be active on a project. Add your organisations' skills to make this a valuable resource to the movement during the presentation. We might even find you a peer partner in Hongkong!
