In this presentation, we will discuss findings from new engagement tools we recently released on Wikipedia: Notifications, Page Curation and Article Feedback. Our editor engagement team developed these features last year in collaboration with community members -- and we would like to share some of the lessons we learned from their use. For this talk, we will focus on 'positive engagement loops': workflows that invite users to contribute productively to Wikipedia -- with constructive feedback and interactions that keep them coming back. We will review some of these workflows and share observations on how they impact users in different ways. Through these case studies, we hope to identify best practices that could be applied to future engagement tools, to help more people improve Wikipedia together.

How can we engage users to contribute productively on Wikipedia?
In this presentation, we will discuss findings from new engagement tools we recently released on Wikipedia:
Our editor engagement team developed these features last year in collaboration with community members -- and we would like to share some of the lessons we learned from their use.
When we build new features like these, we aim to create 'positive engagement loops': workflows that invite users to contribute productively to Wikipedia -- with constructive feedback and interactions that keep them coming back.
We would like to review some of these workflows, which vary from one feature to another, and impact users in different ways. For example, the new 'thanks' feature in the Notifications tool aims to show gratitude to users who make valuable edits and encourage them to contribute more. And the personal note feature in Page Curation invites constructive interactions between reviewers and page creators.
Through these case studies, we hope to identify best practices that could be applied to future engagement tools, to help more people improve Wikipedia together.
