- Abstract
Wikidata is a major opportunity to work with structered information provided by GLAMs. Following the discussion born in a mailing list dedicated to librarians and wikipedians, Wikimedia Italy started a partnership with the National Library of Florence to insert links from BNCF's thesaurus (which is authoritative for Italian librarians in cataloguing works) and Wikipedia articles. The project is especially relevant because of the similar and complementary aims of both the thesaurus and Wikipedia itself, and it's a fresh start for GLAM WIKI collaborations in Italy.
- Detailed proposal
Wikidata is a major opportunity to work with structered information provided by GLAMs. Following the discussion born in a mailing list dedicated to librarians and wikipedians (http://mailman.wikimedia.it/listinfo/bibliotecari), Wikimedia Italy started a partnership with the National Library of Florence to insert from BNCF's thesaurus (which is authoritative for Italian librarians in cataloguing works) and Wikipedia articles. This project led to a meeting between WM-IT members and librarians held in Milan on March 14 during the 'Stelline conference', one of the biggest events in Italy dedicated to libraries and librarians (http://www.convegnostelline.it/). In this presentation we overview the history of the project and the technical details behind its practical realization.
