Talk:Submissions/Quo vadis, Wikiquote?
Latest comment: 11 years ago by Nemo bis
Hi! Thanks for submitting your proposal. I just wanted to make a comment - I am happy to see a Wikiquote proposal! I have to say - it's only for Wikiquoters. I'd love to be able to participate, but, I haven't edited Wikiquote despite being a 7+ year Wikipedian. I'd love to know how non-wikiquoters could be come that. So, I encourage you also consider inclusivity and improving diversity on WikiQuote! It'd be so nice to learn how I can get involved, without messing the whole thing up :) SarahStierch (talk) 02:36, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Sarah, thank you for your comment. You're absolutely right - such a submission would be a great idea, too. Unfortunately, the submission deadline has elapsed. As far I can see this is again the only submission regarding Wikiquote - I've submitted this already in a similar form last year, but it was rejected. So I have the hope that this year will be the (maybe very first) chance to discuss problems concerning this project with other active users.
- Of course new editors in the Wikiquote projects are urgently needed, but I think one of the most dissuasive points is the lack of the usability. If this submission will be accepted, I will translate the description of this problem into English, at current there is only a short German description within an old project application. Maybe I will translate it anyway. :-)
- So, as a conclusion: I would love to have such a proposal at next Wikimania, but since the submissions are closed I'm afraid that this is not possible anymore. :-( Stepro (talk) 15:58, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- Nice to see a submission about Wikiquote; you should tell Wikiquote-l about it. I think you're still allowed to tweak the description, aren't you? A clearer description would help you make the submission more focused and more interesting to a wider audience. It's not clear of what sort of inconsistency you're talking about here, is your submission about something like m:Wikidata/Notes/Future#Wikiquote?
- The Italian Wikiquote (second-third "biggest" Wikiquote) has a simple solution: all quotations are on authors' or works' pages, while theme pages contain only a subset of them and link back for details like sources (which are mandatory). French Wikiquote probably has no inconsistencies at all because they use templates. English Wikiquote is very chaotic. --Nemo 08:23, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you, but that would be a wasted effort.
- I'm honestly pretty disappointed that this year again not a single contribution to this sister project will take place. Let's make no mistake about it: "on the waitlist" means rejected. An other submission regading Wikiquote doesn't exist. --Stepro (talk) 00:01, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what the criteria are, but if you managed to get more interested attendees it wouldn't harm I think. :) --Nemo 04:46, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
