Talk:Submissions/Who's doing what at WMF Engineering?

How does this differ from Submissions/Ask the developers? Is this the pro version, "Learn how to ask the developers"? Usually people need to know who's doing what because they have in mind something to ask; if they don't have something to ask, they won't care who's doing what and they won't know next time. :) --Nemo 09:48, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- In my experience, a lot of nontechnical people within the Wikimedia movement are simply CURIOUS about who is doing what, and learning the broad outlines of "what in the world are the engineers up to?" helps them come up with more questions to ask and ideas of things to do and make! I have taught this "who's doing what" session to dozens of people who have found it really interesting and useful. You're a Wikimedian; don't discount curiosity and iterative learning as a reason for this kind of intro. :) Sharihareswara (WMF) (talk) 15:58, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the answer, I see the point now. I don't fall in the demography you expect so I can't tell, but I think adding «[are you] CURIOUS about who is doing what, and learning the broad outlines of "what in the world are the engineers up to?"» to the abstract would make it clearer. --Nemo 08:07, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
